Murphy

Gentle goofy Murphy has been waiting very patiently for his new family to come along.

Murphy is a handsome 40kg, 7 yo Mastiff x, that loves cuddles and loving, so an inside/outside home where he can spend time with his family is ideal. He’s a big lounge lizard, but still loves a game and does zoomies with his squeaky toys in the backyard.  He enjoys a walk and loves a car ride that takes him to new adventures like a walk in a new place or the beach.  Murphy’s new owner should be confident, dog savvy and able to continue training as he settles into the home. He does best with clear boundaries and directions and therefore a home that are not first time dog owners is preferred.

Being an older boy, he’s toilet trained and has shown not to be a digger.   He has lovely manners, but his training & socialisation will need to be ongoing. He’s very food motivated, so be careful to not tempt his opportunistic side and leave things in reach on the kitchen cupboard (lesson learned here hahaha)!

He enjoys the company of other dogs and would love to have a play mate to share his home with as long as they have similar personalities. He may suit being an only spoiled pooch with a family that is home more often than not, as he has shown some separation anxiety and therefore unclimbable fencing is required to keep him safe.  He is not a jumper but will happily scale when he can.  6ft Colorbond fencing will keep him in!

He’s been in foster care with kids and shows to be good with them, however, due to his size, we would suggest dog savvy and over the age of 7. He has met wary cats whilst in foster care and shows to keep his distance, however we would suggest a home without cats for his forever fit.  He has also met goats and chickens via fencing but hasn’t lived face to face with them long term to know his suitability in a forever home
