Meet Bruce – The Bossy, Bouncy, Brilliant Rascal

Brace yourself, because Bruce is not your average sausage. This cheeky, chunky (over 10kg!) Dachshund mix is bursting with personality, opinions, and sass—and he’s officially taking applications for a very special kind of human.

Bruce has had a rough start, previously left in overnight cages and understandably shaken by it all. But don’t let the sad backstory fool you—he’s bounced back with all the enthusiasm of a dog who just discovered squeaky toys for the first time. He’s playful, affectionate, and a total velcro dog. If you’re not into having a shadow that follows you, watches you pee, and insists on snuggling as close to your face as physically possible… Bruce is not your guy.

Now, let’s talk turkey: Bruce is reactive. Not “a little bit barky,” not “sometimes excitable”—we mean full sass mode engaged when he sees other dogs on lead. He’s is very social with his dog friends, and lives with a variety of dogs and has met many more, he loves to play and plays hard however it’s on a lead that he struggles if not managed right. He’s thriving with his current experienced carer, but tends to act like an unruly toddler hyped up on sugar with anyone new.

The good news? Bruce is clever, food-motivated, and absolutely capable of overcoming his reactive ways with the right person. Training support will be provided to help set you both up for success—but you’ll need experience, patience, and ideally a sense of humour. Think of him as a spicy project dog with a lot of heart and endless potential.

Other important things to know about Bruce:

• He LOVES tug-of-war and fetch. Like, it’s his entire personality.

• He’s crate trained, sleeps through the night, and is toilet trained.

• He travels like a dream in the car.

• He’s not suitable for small kids or toddlers—he’s strong, jumpy when excited, and does not understand personal space.

• He absolutely must live indoors with his people—no backyard-only life for this snuggle gremlin.

Bruce is a diamond in the rough: a bit sharp around the edges, but with the right polish (and maybe a few training treats), he’ll shine brighter than your average family dog. If you’re experienced, dog-savvy, and up for the challenge of bringing out the best in a hilarious, high-energy, high-maintenance love bug, Bruce might just be your soulmate.
